Audition Video Guidelines

Play two jazz standards of contrasting styles. Make certain to include playing one time through the head then at least one chorus of you improvising over the chord changes. Use Aebersold play-along recordings for your rhythm sections.

Players should demonstrate

good tone production: resonant and full sound, clarity or articulations
solid sense of time and rhythm
intonation awareness: holding the pitch or adjusting when out of tune
Also include one example each of two-octave major and minor scales.

Time: Do not exceed 5 minutes

Application

Being able to play amazing music that I don't often get the chance to play and being able to play with so many amazing young musicians.

I absolutely loved my quartet and the evening activities!

I am so grateful for all the love and support from the faculty and I learned so much!

I got the opportunity to perform at the student solo recital. This was a great learning opportunity and my favorite performance experience to date.

Meeting so many new people. Everyone I met was so kind and that was my favorite part.

My favorite part is just getting to make wonderful music with amazing people who care so much about music. Specifically being in the Philharmonic and just the energy and sound you can create with my friends.

Philharmonic and ukulele class, I learned so much and solidified my decision to a music major.
